Mission

John McMullen arrived in San Francisco in 1876 and quickly proceeded to start a number of dredging and contracting companies. He built bridges, canals, seawalls, and piers in San Francisco and as far as New York and Manila.
This Stick Style1It's a transitional style between Gothic Revival and full Queen Anne. You'll recognize it by the decorative stick work intended to make it look like half-timbered houses. There may also be some overhanging eaves, squared bay windows, false gable or mansard, or sunbursts in gables as well as vertical trim at sides of windows. house was designed for him by the Californian architect Samuel Newsome. In the 1970s it belonged to Leroy2Father of the Tenderloin https://beyondchron.org/leroy-looper-the-father-of-the-tenderloin and Kathy Looper who called it Chateau Agape after their daughter and operated it as a mental health care facility.
