First Historical Society

Financial District

The oldest historical society in California, Society of California Pioneers, was organized here on August 31, 1850 to preserve California history. Appropriately, the current East West Bank building houses a lovely free historical museum. Enter at 608 Commercial to see the remnants of the first U. S. Mint.
