This building was erected in 1902 and was among very few unaffected by the 1906 earthquake and fire. Generously, the Calvary Presbyterian Church invited St. Luke's Episcopal Church, Old First Presbyterian Church, and Temple Emanuel to hold services here while they were restoring their own destroyed buildings, and even constructed a courtroom in the basement for the California Supreme Court.
Calvary Presbyterian appears in the opening sequence of That Brennan Girl (1946), the final directorial work of Alfred Santell and the last leading role for actor James Dunn.
