Here used to stand the old Nevada Bank. In the pre-telephone days its messenger service was the biggest after-school employer of young boys. Dozens of them would go running all over downtown between 4 and 6 pm notifiying families of businessmen who chose not to return home for dinner. Both the messenger center and the bars where the businessmen went burned down in 1906.
