Mia and her mother visit the pier together in The Princess Diaries (2001). So should you - it's a great place to see the sea lions that showed up in 1990 and never left. You'll find them on the left side of the pier. Go inside to try that uniquely American sweet - the funnel cake and enjoy the carousel and mirror maze.

Once you do that keep walking along Fisherman's Wharf to Ghirardelli Square.
