Built in 1911 as Engine Company No. 43, this Mission Revival firehouse originally housed horse-drawn fire carriages. The city decommissioned it in 1976 and sold it at auction; it has been a private home ever since - one that still contains the original fireman's pole. In The Princess Diaries (2001), the exterior served as the home and art studio of Mia Thermopolis, played by Anne Hathaway, where she lived with her mother and their cat before discovering she was heir to the throne of Genovia. Interior scenes were filmed at Disney Studios in Burbank. It remains a private residence and you will not be allowed inside even if you ask very nicely unless you come to one of the awesome art studio events.
